Sweden goalkeeper
Andreas Isaksson who missed the first match after suffering mild
concussion in a training accident is expected to return. Midfielder
Tobias Linderoth who had a slight knock on his knee in Saturday's 0-0
draw with Trinidad & Tobago is also expected to start. Captain
Olof Mellberg and midfielder Freddie Ljungberg had a verbal bust-up in
the dressing room after 10-man Trinidad held Sweden to a draw in their
Group B World Cup game.
Paraguay goalkeeper
Justo Villar (calf) who was injured in the opening match against England
is expected to miss the rest of the tournament. Defender Delio Toledo
who injured his calf in training on Monday has been ruled out for this
match. Midfielder Carlos Bonet is expected to play despite picking up a
slight knock against England.
Sweden's frustration to
win their first match against Trinidad & Tobago
almost
led to a burst-up between their captain O.Mallberg and Arsenal's
F.Ljungberg indicate clearly what their intentions are. They were
somewhat less fortunate not to take all 3 points in a game they
dominated against a side who played the final 44 minutes of the game
with a man short but just could not find the breakthrough and when they
do they found West Ham's keeper Shaka Hislop in stunning form. Paraguay
recovered from an early setback and played more of a side that held
tournament's favourites, Brazil and Argentina in their qualifying
campaign despite losing 1-0 to England in the opener. The way their
opponents dominated the early stages of the game you would have thought
a much heavy defeat beckoned. This should be a hard fought affair both
desperately needing the win but I go for the Swedes who are more
predictable on their play as well as commitment.
