England right back
Gary Neville has a calf injury and is very doubtful. Wayne Rooney is fit
and available to make his World Cup debut after nearly seven weeks out
with a broken foot but most probably be starting from the bench.
Trinidad & Tobago
defender Avery John will miss this game via suspension after his sent
off against Sweden. Goalkeeper Kelvin Jack who sustained a knee injury
in the warm-up before the game against Sweden looks set to miss out
again. This will be like an English cup game between a Premiership side
against a lower league club where most of the "The Warriors" consisted
of.
England laboured
to a 1-0 win over Paraguay in their opener courtesy of another dead ball
situation, their 5th in last 2 matches(4 of England's 6 goals rout of
Jamaica in a pre tournament friendly just before were from dead balls),
a deflected own goal via a David Beckham's free kick. They started
strongly and could have buried the game in the opening 20 minutes but
faded after taken the lead. A win here and Sweden's failure to beat
Paraguay would see them through to the last 16 of the tournament. Should
have no problem even with a blunt strike force against a Trinidad &
Tobago side who were somewhat fortunate to steal a point from the much
fancied Swedes in their first match though very much owed to West Ham's
keeper Shaka Hislop stunning saves despite playing almost the entire 2nd
half with 10 men with a men sent off in the 46th minute. A win for
England should be the only outcome but question mark remains on whether
they can overcome the 2 goal handicap.
