Sheffield Wednesday
will be without new signing Deon Burton. He made his debut in the 3-0
win over Crewe but is cup-tied. Tudgay completed a permanent move from
Derby on Friday. On-loan Manchester City goalkeeper Nicky Weaver is
ineligible, but boss Paul Sturrock is ready to take a gamble on David
Lucas, who will return following knee surgery. Left-back John Hills will
sit out a one-game ban.
Charlton are without
Uruguay centre-back Gonzalo Sorondo for around six weeks after it was
confirmed he had fractured a bone in his foot. Midfielder Danny Murphy
(hamstring) is fit for the FA Cup third-round tie at Sheffield
Wednesday, but Alexei Smertin (knee) and Jerome Thomas (virus) will not
feature despite having resumed full training. Striker Francis Jeffers -
back from his loan spell at Rangers - is likely to go straight into the
squad, but defender Talal El Karkouri is away with Morocco at the
African Nations' Cup.
