Franck Queudrue has returned to training after a head injury and is in contention for Middlesbrough. Andrew Davies could also return after being cup-tied for the midweek FA Cup win against Charlton. Lee Cattermole is struggling with an ankle injury, while Emanuel Pogatetz (facial fractures) and Gaizka Mendieta (fractured metatarsal) are out for the season.

Portsmouth dug deep and somehow stole an unlikely point where they came from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw against Arsenal on Wednesday. Last weekend also saw them came from behind twice also at Fratton Park to draw 2-2 against Blackburn. Previous 3 wins on the bounce plus these 2 draws keep the momentum going and look good value to beat the drop despite still remain in the relegation mire but equal on points with 17th placed Birmingham. A win here will see them leapfrog Birmingham who play tomorrow away against Aston Villa to safety. Have a great chance to do so against a Boro side with sights on next Thursday's important UEFA Cup semi-final opening tie as well as coming up FA Cup semi-final. Middlesbrough put out a makeshift side against Newcastle at the weekend and were well-beaten losing 2-1 at the Riverside though the narrow score-line flatters them. The home side will need to sharpen up their scoring abilities if they are to gain maximum points here.
