Manchester City
striker Georgios Samaras is rated doubtful. Captain Sylvain Distin(virus)
and Joey Barton(ankle) face late fitness tests.
Striker David Connolly is in contention for a place in the Wigan squad
after scoring on his comeback from a hamstring injury in midweek. David
Thompson (knee) and Damien Francis (foot) are both being troubled by
injury but are expected to be available.
Home is where
Man.City are at their strongest, have the edge here on just a 1/2 ball
handicap(probably taking Monday's night crucial FA Cup quarter-final tie
into consideration) even against this season surprised package Wigan.
They were less fortunate to end up losing 4-3 in the reverse fixture, a
game where they should have ran out comfortable winners if they did not
take their foot off the gas pedal while on top. They will be seeking
their 5th home league win on the trot and the 8th in all competitions.
Wigan just never know when to stop play, bounced back from a
disappointing 4-0 Carling Cup final defeat to United with a much
improved performance against the same opponents despite going down 2-1
via an injury time goal, dug deep last weekend to beat bottom club
Sunderland 1-0 at the Stadium of Light.
