Sunderland's
caretaker manager Kevin Ball has a lengthy injury list. Midfielder Julio
Arca, defender Steve Caldwell and striker Stephen Elliott are all
struggling with hamstring problems, while Kevin Kyle is unlikely to
figure after being scalded in an accident at home. Nyron Nosworthy is a
doubt with a dead leg, but Tommy Miller is recovering from a similar
problem.
Goalkeeper Antti Niemi and midfielder Papa Bouba Diop are set to return
from lengthy injury absences for Fulham. Midfielder Michael Brown begins
a three-match suspension. Midfielder Mark Pembridge, who has missed two
days of training with an Achilles problem, and central defender Ian
Pearce, forced off with a back injury during the Portsmouth match, are
both in the squad.
This is a match where
a team yet to win at home i.e Sunderland vs a team, i.e Fulham yet to
win away from home. The home team still not giving up just yet ground
out a surprise 2-2 draw at Goodison Park against Everton the last time
out. A defeat here plus unfavourable results elsewhere will officially
end Sunderland's short stay at the Premiership. Fulham are 3 places
above the drop zone with a 9 point cushion and 5 games left to play.
Have a chance here to bounce back from a surprise 3-1 home defeat to
Portsmouth and break their away duck with a win over injury hit
Sunderland. I've never back any away side with any - ball handicap nor
would I recommend one.
