Wigan will be without
striker David Connolly who is struggling with a hamstring injury while
Lee McCulloch, who hobbled off in the first half of the 1-0 win over
Arsenal in the 1st leg of the carling Cup semi-final is rated doubtful.
Henri Camara is on international duty with Senegal, Ryan Taylor has a
broken foot while Emerson Thome is still recovering from a fractured
cheekbone. Paul Scharner is standing by to make his full debut for his
new club.
West Brom midfielder Zoltan Gera has suffered another setback in his bid
to recover from a double hernia operation and is ruled out. Kanu and
Neil Clement are sidelined with fractured cheekbones.
This season's
surprise package Wigan came into this match at the back of 2 straight
defeats in the league, a 0-3 home against Blackburn before a 2-0 reverse
at struggling Birmingham. It seemed that the marathon run of festive
fixtures have finally taken the steam off them. But midweek's 1-0
credible win in the Carling Cup over a strong Arsenal side proved
otherwise. Should be too strong for an inconsistent West Brom side
coming into this match at the back of 2 straight defeats and still
searching their first away maximum of the season.
