Rio Ferdinand who
missed the FA Cup defeat at Liverpool last weekend with a hamstring
injury, has been passed fit to play for Manchester United in Sunday's
Carling Cup final against Wigan at the Millennium Stadium in Wales. This
will be the 6th annd last Carling Cup to be held in Wales before the
moving back to the newly constructed Wembly stadium. John O'Shea is also
available after recovering from fractured ribs. Paul Scholes and Alan
Smith are out for the remainder of the campaign.
Wigan striker Jason Roberts is certain to return to the starting line-up
after served his three-match suspensions. Injured entre-back Stephane
Henchoz trained on Thursday and is in line to start.
This will be Sir
Alex final fling to claim the only silverware for once mighty Man.United
who have never really live up to previous standards this term. Out of
the elusive Champions League competition and are chasing shadows in the
Premiership title race which in realistic are long gone, currently 15
points off top spot Chelsea who never seem to stop winning. This
season's surprised package and newcomers, Wigan should claim a
UEFA place even if with a defeat here as 2nd spot United should at least
claim an European berth provided they finish within the top 6 in the
table. This is a cup final and on a 1 ball handicap, I'll go for the
underdogs who never stop playing against the not so unbeatable
Man.United.
